Covering a warranted 27,000 miles from new and a huge history pack from its recent 19 year ownership.

Supplied new to a senior Aircraft engineer whom kept the car until his passing in 2004.

The car was then sold on via the estate administers to a Mr R Howitt who was a local antiques dealer whom never registered the car in his name, one only assumes this was common place and placed in the trade ultimately selling in 2006 to its long term custodian.

During the 19 years of recent ownership, it has always been stored in a dehumidified garage and only ever used in dry-weather conditions during summer.

Over this time, C440EAG has been subject to a significant level of investment to detail the car under the bonnet and the underside and ensure that it would continue to be reliable and safe well into the future, when key original VW genuine parts may be scarce (i.e. many parts have been replaced not because of being faulty or poor condition, but as preventative maintenance or to improve the appearance of a component and for reliability / peace of mind). All the new parts added to this vehicle are the correct, brand new genuine Volkswagen parts (even nut, bolt and washer) All of the new parts’ invoices are within the history file.

Exterior / Body Condition.

The car has never had any accident repairs and retains all of its original factory exterior paintwork and panels. Documented small corrosion repairs to the arch lips are within the file.

The painted panels within the engine bay retain the original coat of factory-applied protection wax, as does the original wax injection of the body panels, which cannot be replicated and evidences that there have been no body damage repairs to C440EAG. All panels are 100% dent and corrosion-free with panel gaps as it left the Karmann Coachworks factory in Osnabruck where it was built.

The original paintwork is bright and retains a superb shine and is akin to as-new in appearance. All exterior trim and lighting units are in as-new condition with no damage or UV fading / cracking whatsoever.
The original black body kit is unmarked and totally as-new.
All glass is factory stamped and undamaged with no chips or scratches and all rubber seals are perfect.
All exterior screws and washers (e.g. within the wheel arches) are new genuine VW items.
The underside of C440EAG is in show-condition. It has no corrosion or evidence of corrosion and retains its original appearance and factory applied protection and is free of any aftermarket waxoyl / schutz that may hide corrosion (there is no need for this on a vehicle in this condition and that is stored correctly and only used in dry conditions).

All underside components and fixings (e.g. axle, suspension, brakes mountings etc.) are in as-new condition.

C440EAG retains all of its original factory build stickers, warning stickers within the boot, body frame engine bay and on components.

Interior Condition

The interior is all original and literally in as-new condition. Car never been smoked in (cigarette lighter unused). Headlining is excellent with no damage whatsoever. Door cards are as-new as is the dashboard with is unfaded and has no cracks with all lights, gauges and digital clock working. C440EAG has its original Blaupunkt London MR21 stereo radio cassette and four speakers – in full working order that is also in as-new condition (this unit alone is worth £300+ in this condition).

An original Blaupunkt set of instructions and service information for this unit comes with the car. Rear parcel shelf is fully intact with no speaker holes.
Seats have no bolster wear and are original. Carpet condition is exceptional. Fitted with genuine Volkswagen carpet mats.
Boot condition is also as-new with no damage to any of the trim side panels and back seat. There are no scratches or marks whatsoever to the painted areas of the inside, with all original build / warning stickers in place. No dirt or staining to the carpet.
Original space-saver spare wheel and toolkit with strap, foam fabric piece and strap (unused with factory paper tag still on the wheel).

Engine Bay & Underside

Engine bay has the original ‘EW’ 1595cc engine with the ‘4+E’ five speed gearbox. The engine and ancillary components are in as-new condition and the engine bay retains all of its original plastic cable guides and clips and warning stickers that are often lost over time.
The engine bay painted panels, bonnet underside and gearbox housing are still coated in the original layer of factory-applied protective wax coating, which is supposed to remain slightly tacky and so attracts airborne dirt making it appear that the engine bay is dirty when in fact it isn’t. This has been kept as-is as it cannot be replicated and demonstrates that the car has never had front end damage.
Common to all Mk2 Sciroccos is that some of the bonnet underframe pressing holes have some minor surface corrosion on their leading edge and the condition now is the same as when the car was purchased 19 years ago. The under bonnet sound deadening foam has been replaced to factory spec.
