A UK-supplied 450 SEL in ‘387 Blau Metallic’ (Blue Metallic) with a dark blue velour interior is a testament to the car’s former keepers.

A real wolf in sheep’s clothing oozing class and sophistication. This was the start of the S-Class Mercedes as we know it today.

The Mercedes-Benz W116 range was produced between 1972 and 1980 and the first model to officially carry S-Class nomenclature, the S derived from the word ‘sonderklasse’, meaning ‘special class’. If the S was partnered with an E, then the car was fitted with fuel-injection, or ‘einspritzung’ and if it was tailed with an L, then it was the long wheelbase model as we have here today.

We are informed single family owned from new, exchanged between relatives and business to personal transfer throughout the years, accruing 6 former keepers in 50 years.
Parked up in dry professional storage in 1998 and brought out of storage in 2022.

Acquired by its latest custodian in 2022 to form part of a lovely private Mercedes collection where another 450 SEL also resides but that one owned some 20+years and in Gold Metallic. Subject to a recommission at the time of sale and then some additional work including rear brake calipers etc in late 2023.

The paintwork and brightwork is absolutely first class throughout.
The interior bar some small wear on the drivers seat is again immaculate and a lovely place to be.

She wafts along beautifully eating up the miles effortlessly, yet if you want pinning back in your armchair she will assist with that very easily!
